Kellits may take its name from the landholding of Moses Kellet, assembly man for the parish of Clarendon in the 1750s, although records give even earlier reference to a George Kellet of Clarendon and his son Henry, born in 1698

Nestled in the hills of Clarendon near the Bullhead Mountain, Kellits is an agricultural community best known as the marketing centre for the community and its surrounding environs.

The Knight’s family came to settle in McNie, a community on the outskirts of Kellits, when our great grandmother Isadora relocated there with her six children in the early 1920’s. Head of the New Testament Church of God, Isadora was well known, influential and respected.

Well established in the community of McNie, the Knight’s family not only benefited from educational and other facilities but also impacted Kellits and its environs as church leaders, educators, carpenters, farmers, land and business owners. This was just the start….
